Eating healthy should also be an important part of our life. We live in a world that is go-go-go and we are always in a hurry to get somewhere or to do something. Think about the stress we are placing on our bodies! Depending on our lifestyle, we need to make sure that essential vitamins and nutrients are a part of our diet to keep blood cells, tissue cells and organ systems happy. Stress impedes our digestive system and a healthy digestive tract is necessary to prevent disease and ill-health from occurring. Blood type is another factor that can help us to figure out what type of diet may be better suited. The book 'Eat Right For Your Type', has very useful information on blood types and diet. If one is overweight, chances are that the person needs to cut back on bread products, dairy and fatty meats. If one is underweight nuts, seeds, goats milk products, avocados and brown basmati rice may be missing from the diet. Above all, essential fatty acids are important for everyone for optimum health of the digestive tract, memory, skin and cell tissue repair. These oils are the omega 3 and omega 6 oils and can be found in fish such as salmon and mackerel; as well as, flax seed oil. Pumpkin seeds and black currants are an excellent source of omega 6 oil also. Excess sugar clouds the mind, while caffeine, nicotine and other stimulants weakens the liver and kidneys. The bottom line is, if we must satisfy our cravings, do it sparingly or in moderation because we are what we eat! Besides proper nutrition, we must also be aware of the amount of water we consume on a daily basis and its purity. We tend to forget to drink water and soon enough dehydration sets in. This creates toxins in our muscles (achy muscles and achy joints develop) and healthy cells deteriorate and die more quickly. To help reduce premature aging and wrinkles, make sure you keep properly hydrated. Our working environments, stress and athletic activities, as well as, living at higher altitudes requires that we need to consume more water on a daily basis.
