Information about the founder, Michelle Kaminski, R.Dr.TCM

Michelle Kaminski, R.Dr.TCM is the owner and operator of Healing Hands, in Whistler. Michelle completed a three year intensive study of traditional Chinese medicine, and graduated in 1999 with a doctorate in traditional Chinese medicine. In April, 2003, after Michelle completed subsequent examination tests from the College of Traditonal Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of B.C., the province of B.C. recognized her status as a registered doctor of traditional Chinese medicine.

During these three years of intense study, Michelle obtained a plethora of knowledge in acupuncture and the meridian systems of the body; along with; Eastern herbs, massage and diet therapy. She has worked on patients with a variety of ailments from the common cold, allergies, heart disease, diabetes, depression, cancer, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and sports injuries. Michelle Kaminski also volunteered at Gaia Garden, a herbal dispensary in Vancouver, B.C. to expand her knowledge with the use of Western herbs and aromatherapy oils, alongside with the Chinese herbs. After completing her schooling and receiving recognition as a Registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in April, 2003, by the province of British Columbia and the Canadian College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, she further studied over seas in China, Thailand and Vietnam. As well, she continues to upgrade and learn the latest techniques available around the world from the leading acupuncturists of today. Most recently, she studied Facial Constitutional acupuncture with Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, L.Ac. from New York City and Esoteric acupuncture with Mikio Sankey, L.Ac., Ph.D. from Los Angelos, California.

Michelle Kaminski also has a wide background in massage therapy. She studied Shiatsu massage at Source Point in Vancouver, B.C.; along with Acupressure massage, Thai massage and reflexology. Her forte is Deep Tissue massage and working at the core of the injury site or the root of the problem. She combines this type of massage with acupressure and works with a series of trigger points to release the tension spots and to promote healing in the area.
